Alex Mykris

Lead Medical Illustrator at PrecisionOS

Alex Mykris has a diverse work experience in various roles related to medical illustration and product development. Alex is currently working as the Lead Medical Illustrator at PrecisionOS Technology since July 2021. Prior to this, they worked at CAE Healthcare from October 2018 to July 2021 as a Medical Illustrator - 3D Modeler. Before CAE Healthcare, Alex worked at Simulare Medical as a Product Development Specialist from September 2017 to October 2018. Alex was responsible for sourcing references for anatomical accuracy, designing parts for 3D printing, prototype testing with surgeons, and developing packaging/marketing material.

In addition to their medical illustration roles, Alex also has experience as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Toronto in 2016 and as a Summer Research Fellow at The National Library of Medicine: Lister Hill Center for Biomedical Communications from June 2016 to August 2016. In these positions, they developed 3D models and an interactive viewer using Unreal Engine 4.

Prior to their medical illustration career, Alex worked as a Primary Nematocera Morphology Illustrator at Iowa State University in 2015, conducting research and illustrating various life stages of flies. Alex also gained experience as a Medical Illustrator Intern at Radiology Protocols, where they created 3D models of human anatomy and radiological equipment.

Before entering the medical field, Alex worked as a Ceramics Teacher at Octagon Center for the Arts from 2013 to 2015 and as a Resident Artist at The Ceramics Center from 2010 to 2012, showcasing their artistic skills in ceramics.

Overall, Alex Mykris has a well-rounded background in medical illustration, product development, teaching, and artistic endeavors.

Alex Mykris completed a Bachelor's degree in Biological/Pre-Medical Illustration at Iowa State University from 2013 to 2015. Subsequently, they pursued a Master's of Science degree in Biomedical Communications at the University of Toronto from 2015 to 2017.
