Thomas Flottemesch

Thom Flottemesch has extensive experience in the field of healthcare research and analytics. Thomas (Thom) has held various senior positions in different organizations. Currently, Thom is working as a Senior Principal Scientist at PRECISIONheor, where they design and implements cost-effectiveness and simulation models related to health technologies and policies. Prior to this role, they worked as a Principal Research Scientist at DLH Corporation, overseeing the company's RMADA program office and serving as the analytics director for the Office of Head Start. Thom has also worked as an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Saint Francis, teaching courses on financial management of health services and economics of healthcare services. In addition, Thom has held positions at IBM Watson Health as a Senior Research Leader, where they led research projects and served as a subject matter expert for value-based payment programs, and at the HealthPartners Institute for Education and Research as a Senior Research Investigator, leading various grants and projects related to health research. Before that, Thom worked at Regions Hospital as a Research Associate, focusing on patient flow and quality improvement initiatives. Thomas (Thom) has also worked as an Independent Statistical Consultant, designing customized research projects for clients, and as a Business Modeling Consultant at Adaytum Software, managing the construction of budgeting and financial planning systems. Thom Flottemesch received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Spanish from the University of Minnesota Morris in 1995. Thomas (Thom) then pursued further education, earning a Master of Science degree in Statistics and a PhD in Economics from Washington State University and its College of Business and Economics from 1998 to 2003. In addition to their formal education, Thom has obtained several certifications, including "Data Science with Open Source Tools" and "Python for Data Science" from IBM Cognitive Class and "Partnerworks Accredited Technical Sales Professional" and "Partnerworks Accredited Sales Professional" from Hortonworks.
