Head Coach Loonies Women at Premier Rugby Sevens

Robin MacDowell has a diverse work experience in the rugby industry and related fields. Robin began their career as the Director of Sales & Marketing at District Brewing Company from April 2014 to December 2015, followed by serving as the Vice President of Sales & Marketing from January 2016 to August 2016. In 2014, Robin also became the Head Coach of Rugby Mexico until September 2018. Robin then worked as a Marketing Strategist for Young's Equipment Inc., managing key customer account relationships from July 2016 to November 2018. Robin's involvement in rugby continued as they held various coaching positions at Rugby Canada. Robin served as the Head Coach for Men's 7s FISU Games from June 2019 to 2020, Talent Identification Lead for the Women's National Program from November 2019 onwards, and as the U-18 Junior Men's 7s Coach. In 2020, they co-founded The Rugby Hive. Robin also worked with Gilbert Rugby as the Western Canada Sales representative from October 2019 to May 2020, and as the Canada Sales Manager from May 2020 onwards. Currently, Robin serves as the Head Coach for Premier Rugby Sevens' Loonies Women and as the Head Coach for Rugby Tens Championship. Additionally, they are also the Head Coach at BC Rugby since June 2022. Prior to their coaching roles, Robin had a successful rugby career as a Canadian International player and played professionally in France and Italy. As an entrepreneur, they owned MacDowellRugby, where they provided coaching services and had significant coaching experience in Canada and Mexico, including coaching the women's national 7s team to an undefeated record in 2014 and leading them through Olympic qualifiers in 2015.

Robin MacDowell completed a Bachelor's Degree in French Language and Literature at the University of Victoria from 2004 to 2007. In 2020, Robin pursued further education at the Canadian Sport Institute Calgary and is expected to complete an NCCP Advanced Coaching Diploma in Coaching by 2022.
