Jessica Bertout

Vice President, Alliance & Program Management at Presage Biosciences

Jessica Bertout, VMD, PhD has a diverse and accomplished work history. Jessica is currently the Vice President of Alliance & Program Management at Presage Biosciences, Inc., a position they began in 2023. Prior to this role, they co-founded and served as the CSO of CASTR Alliance, and later became the Chief Executive Officer from 2019 to 2023.

In addition to their industry experience, Jessica has also been involved in professional organizations. Jessica became a member of the AVMA Council on Research at AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) in 2022.

Jessica also has consulting experience as the Principal of JBSC Consulting LLC, starting in 2021.

Previously, they held multiple positions at Presage Biosciences, Inc. starting in 2014. Jessica'sroles include Consultant, Clinical Research from 2019 to 2020, Director of Clinical Research from 2018 to 2019, Associate Director of Clinical Research from 2017 to 2018, and Associate Director of Comparative Oncology from 2016 to 2017. Jessica also served as a Senior Scientist, leading Presage's Comparative Oncology Program, which involved coordinating studies in canine cancer patients and collaborating with various professionals.

Prior to their time at Presage Biosciences, Inc., Jessica worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center from 2011 to 2014. Jessica also completed a dual-degree program as a Graduate Student at the University of Pennsylvania from 2002 to 2010, earning a VMD and PhD.

During their studies at the University of Pennsylvania, they also worked as a Teaching Assistant for the Developmental Biology Laboratory Course at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine from 2005 to 2006.

Before pursuing their advanced degrees, Jessica worked as a Veterinary Technician at Petshield Veterinary Hospital from 2000 to 2001.

Jessica Bertout, VMD, PhD received their education from various esteemed institutions. Jessica earned their B.S. degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (Cum Laude) from Yale University, where they studied from 1998 to 2002. Following this, they pursued further education at the University of Pennsylvania from 2002 to 2010. Here, they obtained a VMD degree (Summa Cum Laude) along with a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology. Additionally, prior to attending Yale University, they completed their French Baccalaureat at Ecole Active Bilingue Jeannine Manuel in Paris from 1996 to 1998, specializing in Math with an International Option.
