Kevin Haas is the current advisor at Prime Movers Lab. Kevin has also worked as the Senior Vice President of engineering and the Vice President of Bioinformatics at Myriad Genetics. In their role as the Senior Vice President of engineering, they were responsible for overseeing the genetic laboratory engineering team with software systems responsible from sample to clinical report. This included LIMS services, automation applications, the Bioinformatics ecosystem, Genomics database, Curation workflows, and reporting. As the Vice President of Bioinformatics, they were responsible for building and leading a talented team of scientists and software engineers responsible for developing a clinical bioinformatics pipeline and researching product advancements. Kevin has a wealth of experience in research and development of novel algorithms and machine learning methods for NGS, developing Bayesian and deep learning strategies to optimize and validate performance, creating robust software systems with scalable and reproducible data architectures, chairing extended leadership teams of VPs and directors, and advancing research findings through internal and external publications and conferences. Kevin's ultimate goal is to provide women and their families with actionable genetic information to guide critical health decisions for prenatal and cancer risk.
Kevin Haas received their Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Kevin also holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to their collegiate studies, Kevin Haas attended Brophy College Preparatory.
