John Sterrett

John Sterrett began their professional career in 2004 as a Software Developer Intern at El Paso Electric Company, where they assisted with the database management of company training data. John then interned at The Hertz Corporation where they assisted in administration of IBM TAM & LDAP servers and served as the project manager of the Vigilent Policy Center evaluation. In 2005, John worked as a Programmer at Deloitte Consulting, where they developed and modified SQL queries and PL/SQL stored procedures in Oracle. In 2006, they became a Senior Developer at Schedule Star, where they were second in command of IT and a lead developer who applied JavaScript, JScript, CSS, and AJAX while developing in Coldfusion. In 2007, they joined Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP as an Application Engineer & DBA, where they were directly responsible for over 100 production instances across SQL Server 2000/2005/2008/2008R2. John also served as the Web Engineering Specialist, managing and administrating the web teams SQL Server databases, and leading the team in query optimization, reporting services, integration services, and analysis services. That same year, John became a Member of the Board of Directors at the Greater Wheeling Chapter of AITP, where they administered the Board of Directors SharePoint website and the chapter’s public facing website. In 2011, they were hired as a SQL Server Database Administrator at Remote DBA Experts, where they were directly responsible for managing and administrating hundreds of databases for several clients. In 2013, they became a Database Sr. Advisor at Dell, where they managed several critical databases behind the dell.com ordering process. In 2014, John was hired as a Teammate at Linchpin People and as the CEO & Principal Consultant at Procure SQL, where they made clients SQL Server queries go faster.

John Sterrett attended the University of Oklahoma from 2000 to 2005, where they earned a B.S. in Computer Engineering. John also attended James E. Taylor High School. In addition, they have obtained a number of certifications from Microsoft, including Microsoft Certified Trainer 2020-2022, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, MCSA: SQL Server 2012/2014, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, HIPAA Awareness for Business Associates, MCSE: Data Platform, Exam 764: Administering a Microsoft SQL Database Infrastructure, Exam 765: Provisioning SQL Databases, MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Administration - Certified 2019, and MCSA: SQL Server 2012.
