Andrew Degroot

Andrew DeGroot is an experienced data scientist with a strong background in leadership and research. Currently serving as a Lead Data Scientist and Data Science Manager at Progressive Insurance, Andrew directs a cross-functional team focused on enhancing claims processes, achieving substantial annual benefits. Previously, as a Senior Data Scientist at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Andrew led the agile development of a tire design platform and implemented AWS infrastructure for machine learning applications. Andrew's academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Physics and Astronomy from the University of California, Riverside, where research concentrated on galaxy evolution, along with prior roles as a teaching assistant and graduate researcher. Andrew's diverse experiences also include developing predictive applications in sports analytics and union advocacy work.
