Mark Van Harn

Mark Van Harn has over 35 years of work experience in engineering roles. Mark started their career at Lockheed Missiles & Space Company as a Mechanical Engineer from June 1984 to November 1986.

In 1987, Mark joined Progressive Surface, Inc. as a Mechanical Design/Project Engineer. Mark was responsible for designing custom machinery for the aerospace and automotive industries. Mark also handled the design and bill-of-materials for all aspects of the Mechanical Design phase of projects. Additionally, Mark was assigned as a Project Engineer, overseeing all mechanical design tasks and communicating with customers. Mark held this role until July 1996.

From July 1996 to May 2016, Mark served as the Chief Mechanical Engineer - Mechanical Engineering Manager at Progressive Surface, Inc. Mark managed the Mechanical Engineering department and its design efforts. Mark worked with Mechanical Project Engineers to establish design teams for each custom project and was responsible for staffing and scheduling.

From May 2016 to May 2022, Mark took on the role of Chief Mechanical Engineer - Machine/Weld Manager at Progressive Surface, Inc. Mark managed production schedules and output, implementing improvements in quality and productivity. Mark also recommended equipment purchases as needed.

Currently, Mark is a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer at Progressive Surface, Inc., starting in June 2022. In this role, they review new Engineering Designs and recommends changes to facilitate manufacturing. Mark resolves machine and weld issues with parts in production. Mark also assists with Engineering Change implementation and non-conforming parts resolution.

Mark Van Harn's education history begins in 1979 when they enrolled at Calvin University. Mark studied there until 1982 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mechanical Engineering. Following this, they attended the University of Michigan from 1983 to 1984, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
