Alexis Stephens

Alexis Stephens is the current Communications Director at ProPublica. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Communications Associate at PolicyLink from October 2015 to March 2020, where they developed communications strategy and content for the national research and action institute advancing economic and social equity. Stephens also wrote and researched articles for The Equity Factor, a column dedicated to tackling issues related to urban inequality and economic development, as an Equitable Economic Development Fellow at Next City from August 2014 to August 2015. From April 2013 to August 2014, Stephens worked as a Staff Writer for MTV Iggy, MTV's world music outlet, writing features, interviews, features, and blog posts about hip-hop and dance artists from the Americas, Africa, Asia and beyond. Stephens began their career as a Program Administrator at the Neighborhood Preservation Center from June 2010 to April 2013.

Alexis Stephens holds a BA from Barnard College in Urban Studies and an MS from the University of Pennsylvania in Alexis'storic Preservation. Alexis is a graduate of Central High School.
