Derek Groothius

Derek Groothius is the current Managing Director at Prota Ventures. Prior to this, they were an advisor at rkr capital from March 2017 to December 2018, and the chief technology officer and partner from March 2017 to April 2018. From April 2013 to September 2015, they were the chief software officer at drw, and from June 2008 to April 2013, they were the director of software engineering. Derek also held the position of senior software engineer at drw from April 2008 to June 2008. From December 2007 to March 2008, they were the head of development at gfx chicago, and from January 2007 to December 2007, they were the head of architecture at gfx technology. From October 2005 to December 2006, they were a contractor and team lead beet at bank of america. From March 2002 to July 2005, they were a senior developer and team lead at citadel llc. Derek has also been the aquanaut and chief technology officer at aquatic capital management.

Derek Groothius has a bachelors degree from Northwestern University.
