Caleb Herbel

Caleb Herbel has a diverse work experience spanning different organizations and roles.

Their most recent position is as a Software Engineer at Protect AI, starting in 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Valli Information Systems as a Full Stack Developer from September 2021 to August 2022.

In 2021, Caleb participated in the Google Summer of Code program as an Open Source Student Developer. During this time, they contributed significantly to the Asterix Database by developing interval joins and contributing over 13,000 lines of Java code.

Before that, Caleb held multiple roles at Walla Walla University. As part of the ASWWU Web Staff, they redesigned and maintained the university homepage and other important pages. Caleb also served as a Sound Technician and Technical Support Services Technician, overseeing sound design and managing teams for various events. Additionally, they worked as a Research Assistant, troubleshooting and refactoring open source code for Apache AsterixDB.

In 2020, Caleb once again participated in the Google Summer of Code program as an Open Source Student Developer.

Prior to their university experience, they worked at McCool Law as a Computer Support specialist, ensuring computers were up-to-date and providing assistance with office tasks. Caleb also gained experience as a Camp Video Producer at Camp Ida-Haven and Assistant Producer at BareFoot Media Ministries.
