Derek Paul

Derek Paul has a diverse and extensive work experience in the engineering field. Derek began their career as a Mechanical Engineer at the Bureau of Reclamation in 2003 before moving on to Honda R&D Americas, Inc. where they held the positions of Design Engineer II and Design Engineer III, focusing on vehicle body layout and packaging. Derek then joined Tesla as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, specializing in battery engineering and making significant contributions to the design and manufacturing capacity of battery enclosures. Most recently, Derek has been working at Proterra Inc, starting as a Staff Mechanical Engineer and progressing to Manager and eventually Director of Engineering. In their current role, they are responsible for the design, development, and sustainment of high-voltage battery products. Derek has led teams, developed product portfolios, and played a key role in achieving ISO certification for the company.
