Andrew Thompson

Andrew Thompson is a healthcare entrepreneur with over three decades of experience in the industry. Andrew is currently the Co-Founder and Managing Director at Proteus Digital Health, a position they have held since 2003. Prior to this, they were the President and Chief Executive Officer at FemRx, which was acquired by Johnson & Johnson in 1999.

Thompson’s career in healthcare began in 1980 as an industrial trainee at Metal Box PLC. Andrew then became a management consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton from 1985 to 1987. In 1989, they joined Mayfield Fund as a healthcare consultant, before co-founding CardioRhythm in 1991. Andrew served as the company’s Chief Financial Officer until it was acquired by Medtronic in 1994.

After a brief stint as Chairman of the Board at Kistler-Morse, Thompson co-founded Proteus Digital Health in 2003. Under their leadership, the company developed ingestible sensors that are used to track medication adherence and other health metrics. In 2020, Proteus Digital Health was acquired by Otsuka Pharmaceuticals.

Andrew Thompson has a Master of Arts in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, a Master of Business Administration from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and a Master of Arts in Education from Stanford University.
