Ammar Rashid has extensive work experience in the medical field. Ammar currently holds a position as the Chair of Division of Hospital Medicine at Queen's University, which they have been in since October 2019. Ammar is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the same university, starting in January 2019. Prior to their current roles, Ammar was the Clinical Director of Complex Medical and Transitional Care at Providence Care starting in March 2019. Ammar also worked as a Family Physician at a Family Health Clinic from March 2017 to December 2018. Ammar Rashid has a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Rawalpindi Medical College, earned from 2001 to 2006. Ammar completed their Internal Medicine Residency Program at Hamad Medical Corporation from 2008 to 2012 and obtained the Arab Board of Internal Medicine certification. Ammar then pursued postgraduate residency training in Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa. Additionally, they are working towards a Master of Health Professions Education from Queen's University, with an expected completion date of 2022. Ammar also holds certifications such as CCFP from The College of Family Physicians of Canada, Independent Practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, Internal Medicine from the Council of Arab Board of Medical Specializations, and Licentitae of the medical council of Canada from the Medical Council of Canada.
