Katy Asher has a diverse range of work experience, primarily focused on community engagement and communications. Most recently, they worked as a Senior Community Engagement Specialist at PRR starting in October 2022. Before that, they served as a Sr. Communications Specialist at the Portland Water Bureau from June 2019 to October 2022. From May 2017 to June 2019, Katy worked as a Coordinator I at the Regional Water Providers Consortium. Prior to that, they were the Fiscal Sponsorship and Communications Manager at the SE Uplift Neighborhood Coalition from January 2015 to May 2017. Katy also gained experience as a Neighborhood Leadership Development professional at the Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods from September 2010 to December 2014. In this role, they provided support in various areas such as fiscal sponsorship, neighborhoods, committees, and communications.
Katy Asher pursued their education in a range of fields. From 2020 to 2021, they attended the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2), where they focused on Foundations in Public Participation. Earlier, they enrolled at Portland State University from 2007 to 2009, earning a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Contemporary Art Practices: Art and Social Practice. Prior to that, Katy Asher studied at Pacific Northwest College of Art from 1999 to 2002, completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Sculpture.
