Devilliers Makonko

Devilliers Makonko (MCom) has a diverse work experience in compliance management roles. Devilliers started their career as a Treasury Trainee at ABSA Corporate and Merchant Bank in 2003. Devilliers then joined the Financial Sector Conduct Authority in 2004 as an FAIS Analyst, analyzing and processing FAIS license applications and monitoring compliance with legislation. In 2007, they became a Compliance Officer at the Financial Intelligence Centre, providing expertise in AML/CFT compliance to regulated institutions. Devilliers then worked as a Compliance Manager at Übank Limited from 2008 to 2010, where they were responsible for FAIS-related compliance requirements and maintenance of the Anti-Money Laundering Control Office. From 2010 to 2013, they worked as a Compliance Manager at AIG South Africa Limited, ensuring compliance with FSCA and FIC regulatory regimes. Currently, they are the Head of Compliance at the Public Investment Corporation, overseeing compliance with legislation, regulations, and policies in PIC's investment activities.

Devilliers Makonko (MCom) has a comprehensive education history. In 1999, they began studying at the University of Pretoria, where they completed a BCOM degree in Statistics and Economics in 2001. In 2002, they pursued further studies at the University of Pretoria and obtained a BCOM Honours degree in Economics. Following this, in 2003, they attended the Academy of Financial Markets and obtained a National Diploma in Financial Markets and Instruments. In 2007, Devilliers enrolled at the University of Johannesburg and successfully completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Law: Compliance Management in 2008. In 2009, they attended X-Pert Academy and completed a Project Management Course. Devilliers later pursued a Master's degree in Economics at the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika, which they completed in 2016. Most recently, from 2021 to 2022, they attended Henley Business School - Africa and obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Practice with a focus on Business Administration and Management.
