Umar Ishaque

Umar Ishaque started their work experience in 2019 as a Customer Service Assistant at WHSmith, where they worked for a month. In 2020, they joined GSK as an Industrial Placement Student in the R&D department, specializing in novel human genetics. During their time there, they performed a combination of wet and dry lab work for their own research project. This involved planning their own lab time, conducting experimental techniques such as ELISAs and FRET assays, culturing human cell lines, analyzing data, and presenting and reporting on their project progress. In 2022, Umar joined Purespring Therapeutics as an Associate Scientist, where they currently work. No end date is specified for their role at Purespring Therapeutics.

Umar Ishaque pursued their education in Biological Sciences from 2018 to 2022 at Imperial College London, focusing on the field of Biology in general. In addition to their academic qualifications, Umar obtained several certifications to enhance their skillset. In December 2019, they became a certified First Aider through St John Ambulance. Umar also completed various courses on LinkedIn, including "Excel Essential Training (Office 365)" and "Excel: Advanced Formulas and Functions" in August 2020. Moreover, they acquired the certification of "STEM Ambassador" from STEM Learning UK in December 2020. Umar's most recent certification, obtained in April 2021 through LinkedIn, is "The Data Science of Healthcare, Medicine, and Public Health," featuring Barton Poulson as the instructor.
