Michael Austin

Michael Austin has extensive experience in culinary education and professional cooking, spanning over three decades. Currently serving as a Teacher Chef Instructor at School District 47 in Powell River since August 1996, Michael teaches Professional Cooking at PC Levels 1 and 2, and manages a teaching kitchen while overseeing catering and daily service. Previous roles include Chef Instructor positions at Vancouver Island University and School District 64 Gulf Islands, where responsibilities involved curriculum development and kitchen management. Michael's early career includes various chef positions on corporate yachts and in prestigious kitchens, combined with educational qualifications including a Bachelor of Education from The University of British Columbia and a Provincial Instructors Diploma from Vancouver Community College.
