Shawn Xiangbin Xu, PhD, MBA has a strong background in the pharmaceutical industry and research and development. Shawn Xiangbin currently holds the position of Head of R&D, Investment & Incubator, and External Innovation at QLD Biotherapeutics Inc, a biotech company in Boston, Massachusetts, focused on advanced cell and gene therapy. Additionally, they serve as the Vice President of Innovation R&D and Head of the Boston Innovation Center at Qilu Pharmaceuticals, a leading pharmaceutical company in China. Prior to their current roles, they were the Founder, Managing Director, and COO at Simcere Innovation, and held executive positions at Simcere Pharmaceutical Group. Shawn Xiangbin has also worked as the Director and Head of Molecular and Cell Biology at Jiangsu Hengrui Medicine Co., Ltd. and held various positions at Johnson & Johnson. Shawn Xiangbin began their career as an Assistant Professor in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Rochester.

Shawn Xiangbin Xu, PhD, MBA has an extensive education history. Shawn Xiangbin obtained their Master's degree in Medical college from Lanzhou University in 2001. Following this, they completed their PhD at Peking Union Medical College in 2004. Shawn Xiangbin then went on to gain further experience through postdoc fellowships at LSU Health Sciences Center School of Dentistry from 2004 to 2006, and at the University of Rochester from 2006 to 2007. In 2018, Shawn pursued an Executive MBA in Business Administration and Management from The University of Texas at Arlington, completing the program in 2020.
