Lotta Oikari serves as a Postdoctoral Researcher at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute since October 2016, focusing on the development of 3D cellular models of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's disease, using human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cells for studying disease pathophysiology and drug screening. Prior to this role, Lotta completed a PhD at Queensland University of Technology from January 2013 to October 2016, with research on the regulation of human neural stem cell fate determination by proteoglycans. Additional experience includes organizing events as a Postgraduate Student Committee Representative at the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation in 2014, and research assistant positions at Genomics Research Centre and Turku Centre for Biotechnology. Lotta holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Cell and Molecular Biology from QUT, a Master of Science in Genetics, and a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Genetics, both from the University of Turku.
