Mike Purnell

Mike Purnell has over 30 years of work experience, starting in the British Army where they held various roles from 1985 to 2007. Mike then moved on to become the Commanding Officer of 101 Force Support Battalion REME from 2007 to 2009, where they led a team of 550 people across multiple locations. In 2009, Mike joined Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) as a Programme Delivery Manager, and later became the Delivery Team Leader, responsible for managing a £1 billion portfolio of high technology projects. Mike also transformed the team's ways of working, structure, and effectiveness. In 2017, Mike joined QinetiQ as the Head of Programmes / Integated Delivery Team Leader.

Mike Purnell has a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Information Technology from Cranfield University. Mike also holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Design of Information Systems from the same university. In addition, they obtained a Master of Arts (MA) in Defence Studies from King's College London. Mike Purnell completed a Commissioning Course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Mike has certifications in Certificate in Company Direction from The Institute of Directors and is a Chartered Engineer from the Institute of Engineering and Technology. Mike is also a member of the Association of Project Management and the Institute of Engineering and Technology.
