Richard Nesbitt has over 50 years of work experience in various roles related to safety risk management and safety management system implementation in the aviation and complex weapon systems industry. Richard has held positions such as Principal Engineer at QinetiQ and Managing Director at Ichabod Associates Ltd. Richard also worked as a Principal Air Safety Consultant at Atkins and Director at SMS Aero Limited. Prior to that, Richard served as the Lead AviationSMS Consultant at AVISA Ltd and Principal Safety Consultant at BMT Isis Ltd. Richard began their career as a Squadron Leader in the Royal Air Force and later worked for the Ministry of Defence on the Brimstone IPT project.
Richard Nesbitt attended Woodlands Road Gillingham from 1967 to 1969. Richard then went on to RAF No1 School of Technical Training (RAF Halton) from 1969 to 1971, where they earned a degree in City and Guilds Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Aircraft Propulsion Turbine and Piston. In 1988, Richard attended RNEC Manadon for one year and completed a HNC in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. From 1981 to 1993, they pursued a Mechanical Engineering degree at the Open University and obtained 4 credits out of the required 6. Finally, from 1988 to 1996, Richard studied Aerospace, Aeronautical Engineering at Royal Air Force College Cranwell.
