Simon Tomlinson

Simon Tomlinson’s work experience includes a variety of roles in procurement and supply chain management. Simon started their career in the British Army and served as Armed Forces personnel from August 1996 to July 2003. Following that, they worked as a Personal Trainer and Lead Instructor at British Military Fitness from July 2001 to July 2003. Simon then pursued a career in fitness and wellness, founding their own company, Evolution Total Fitness Ltd, from May 2003 to June 2006.

In 2005, Simon joined Rolls-Royce as a Global Category Buyer, where they managed category sourcing strategies and successfully implemented a new global strategy for their category. Simon worked at Rolls-Royce until October 2009. Simon then joined Ultra Electronics as a Principal Buyer and later became the Strategic Procurement & Supply Chain Manager, leading a team and introducing an integrated procurement philosophy.

Simon started working at QinetiQ in 2013, initially as a Procurement Category Lead for Research & Development. Simon was then promoted to various roles, including Head of Procurement for Direct Goods & Services and Head of Procurement - Bidding & Programmes. Eventually, they became the Group Director of Procurement and subsequently the Group Director of Supply Chain & Procurement. In these roles, Simon was responsible for managing significant procurement requirements and spearheading cultural and organizational changes.

Additionally, Simon is involved with CIPS - The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply, where they serve as the Chair of the Aerospace & Defence Procurement Group. This role involves driving excellence and professionalism in procurement and supply capability.
