Tomas N Bustad

Tomas N Bustad has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning various roles in the field of UX and design. Tomas has held positions such as Head of UX at Qred AB, where they focused on building and scaling the design function within the organization. As the Design Guild Lead at Flowbox, they were responsible for setting up effective and scalable UX and design processes, recruiting talented designers, and leading central initiatives such as product development and the Design System.

In their role as Head of Product Design at Freespee, Tomas placed emphasis on team growth and building an effective design culture. Tomas implemented UX and Design Principles and led the development of the Design System to serve the organization. At ASSA ABLOY Group, they streamlined the UX and design process for e-commerce web and mobile user experience, leading a team of six UX designers.

Prior to that, Tomas worked as a UX Lead and Sr UX Designer at Cybercom Group, where they gained insight into different organizations and their approach to UX. During their time at Gudrun Sjödén Design AB, they served as Team Lead and Art Director, focusing on creative development and visual style in digital mediums, particularly in e-commerce.

Tomas also has experience as a Digital Art Director at Dramaten - The Royal Dramatic Theatre, where they were responsible for web design, visual content, and campaigns. Tomas started their career as a Motion Designer at SVT, conceptualizing and designing animations for popular television shows. Tomas also worked as an Art Director at 0.10 Grafik, handling a wide range of design assignments and developing prototypes and design proposals.

Throughout their career, Tomas has demonstrated a passion for team growth, team culture, UX strategies, effective design systems, and methods that enhance UX and design quality, user satisfaction, and business value. Tomas possesses strong skills in Adobe software and has experience in web design, graphic design, animation, and art direction.

Tomas N Bustad's education history includes a variety of studies in different fields. In 1989, they completed their high school education and received a High School Diploma, focusing on Economics & Marketing. Following that, from 1997 to 1998, they attended Falkenberg Art School and studied Illustration & Painting. In 1999, they pursued an Advanced Design & Animation course at IBM, earning a Diploma. In the same year, they also attended Orebro School of Art, specializing in Fri konst. In 2000, they enrolled at Hyper Island for two years and focused on Digital Media Creative. In 2000-2001, they acquired a Diploma in Understanding Group and Leadership (UGL). In 2018, they studied Organizational Leadership at Mindset AB. Later, in 2019-2020, they pursued Creative Writing at Linnaeus University. Recently, in 2021-2022, they engaged in the Leaders of Learning program at HarvardX.
