Extending The Use Of Shewanella For Optimal Metal Accumulation, at Quadram Institute

Heather Felgate is a researcher and educator with extensive experience in microbiology and biochemistry. Currently affiliated with Quadram Institute since April 2019, Heather focuses on optimizing metal accumulation using Shewanella and has previously worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, investigating antiseptic tolerance mechanisms in Staphylococcus spp. Additionally, Heather serves as a voluntary Biology Teacher at Canon Njangali School for Girls, inspiring young women in scientific studies. Heather has held multiple positions at the University of East Anglia, including Research Technician, Lecturer in Foundations of Biology, and Senior Research Associate, contributing to various research projects and teaching roles. Heather earned a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of East Anglia (2007-2010) and holds a BSc in Microbiology from the same institution (2004-2007).
