Marina Sessim has extensive research experience in various scientific fields. Marina is currently working as a Materials Research and Simulation Engineer at QuantumScape, where they focus on electrochemical modeling and design of experiments for solid-state lithium-metal battery systems. Before joining QuantumScape, Marina worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Florida from 2018 to 2021. Marina also had a brief stint as an Interim Research Associate at STC in NASA Ames Research Center in 2019. Marina has previous research experience as a Research Assistant at Penn State University from 2016 to 2017 and as an Intern at Idaho National Laboratory in 2017. Marina then went on to pursue their Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, a commitment they upheld from 2010 until 2015. Building upon their undergraduate studies, Marina continued their academic journey at Penn State University, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering from 2016 to 2017. Most recently, Marina attended the University of Florida, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Materials Science and Engineering from 2018 to 2021. Marina's education has provided their with a strong foundation in both nuclear engineering and materials science, equipping their with a diverse skill set and knowledge base.
