Carlos Alberto Diaz Guerrero has a diverse work experience in the field of machine vision and controls. Carlos Alberto started their career as an Engineering Consultant at Empresas Polar in 1996, where they analyzed manufacturing processes and designed automation solutions for quality control. Carlos Alberto then became a Project Engineer at Modular Vision Systems in 1997, identifying business opportunities in the bottling industry and managing the development and implementation of vision systems for bottle sorting.

In 1998, Diaz Guerrero was promoted to Engineering Director at Modular Vision Systems, where they designed and coordinated processes for new product development, production, installation, and technical service. Carlos Alberto successfully deployed bottle inspection systems for Cervecerias Polar, the largest Venezuelan brewery.

From 2008 to 2010, Diaz Guerrero served as the General Manager at Modular Vision Systems. Carlos Alberto directed R&D, technical support, marketing, and finance, and promoted international markets, executing projects in various countries.

In 2011, Diaz Guerrero joined Simon Fraser University as a Master of Applied Science, Research Assistant & Teaching Assistant. Carlos Alberto worked as a Research Assistant in the Experimental Robotics Laboratory, focusing on obstacle detection aid for the visually impaired and air hockey robots assembly and programming. Carlos Alberto also served as a Spanish Instructor and Teaching Assistant for various courses.

In 2014, Diaz Guerrero joined Shelley Automation Inc as a Machine Vision Engineer, where they developed a broad technical knowledge of machine vision and controls systems. Carlos Alberto performed feasibility studies, provided application appraisals, and maintained the company's lab.

From 2014 to 2019, Diaz Guerrero worked at Vanrx Pharmasystems Inc as a Senior Machine Vision Engineer and Machine Vision / Controls / Robotics Systems Specialist. Carlos Alberto redesigned optics and lighting to improve machine vision systems, evaluated and implemented new vision system architectures, and worked on PLC communications based on Ethernet/IP.

In 2019, Diaz Guerrero joined ATS Automation as a Senior Machine Vision Designer, responsible for designing machine vision systems.

In 2022, they joined QuantumScape as a Principal Controls Vision Engineer, where they are currently working.

Carlos Alberto Diaz Guerrero has an extensive education history. Carlos Alberto obtained their Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering from Universidad Simón Bolívar in 1996. After that, they pursued a Master's degree in Business Management/Technology Management from the same institution from 2003 to 2006.

In 2008, Carlos studied English at the British Council for a period of two years. Following this, they attended SFU Simon Fraser University, where they completed the Master of Applied Science program in Robotics and Computer Vision from 2011 to 2014.

Additionally, Carlos acquired a certification as a Certified Vision Professional - Advanced Level from AIA - Advancing Vision + Imaging in June 2016.
