Jean-Philip Piquemal has extensive experience in the field of theoretical chemistry. Jean-Philip is currently a Distinguished Professor of Theoretical Chemistry and the Director of the Laboratoire de Chimie Théorique at Sorbonne Université. Prior to this, they served as a Full Professor of Theoretical Chemistry at the same institution.
In addition to their academic positions, Piquemal has also held various roles within scientific organizations. Jean-Philip is a CSO and co-founder of Qubit Pharmaceuticals, where they contribute their expertise in theoretical chemistry. Jean-Philip is also a member of the PRACE Scientific Steering Committee, part of the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe.
Piquemal has been involved in editorial work as well. Jean-Philip served as an Editor for Results in Chemistry, an open access journal that publishes papers in all areas of chemistry. Jean-Philip is also the Lead Editor for Molecular Simulation Comparisons in the Living Journal of Computational Molecular Science (LiveCoMS), a platform that shares best practices in molecular modeling and simulation.
Throughout their career, Piquemal has held research and professorial positions at prestigious institutions. Jean-Philip was a Research Adjunct Professor at The University of Texas at Austin and a Director of the Institut Parisien de Chimie Physique et Théorique (IP2CT) at CNRS. At Pierre and Marie Curie University, they served as a Professor of Theoretical Chemistry, an Associate Professor, and an Assistant Professor.
Piquemal's contributions to the field have been recognized by the Institut Universitaire de France, where they were appointed as a Junior Member. Jean-Philip also had a research fellowship at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) as a National Institute of Health (NIH) Visiting Fellow.
Jean-Philip Piquemal completed their education in the field of chemistry. From 1999 to 2000, they obtained a Master of Sciences degree in Chemistry from Université Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC). Jean-Philip then pursued further studies at Pierre and Marie Curie University, where they received a DEA (Diplôme d'études approfondies) in Theoretical Chemistry from 2000 to 2001. Finally, they completed their Ph.D. in Theoretical Chemistry at Pierre and Marie Curie University from 2001 to 2004.
