Lei Young

Lei Young has a diverse work experience in the field of synthetic biology and research. Currently, Lei is serving as the Director of Synthetic Biology at Quintara Biosciences. In this role, Lei oversees the operation of gene synthesis and cloning processes. Lei has developed automatic iterative gene synthesis technology to construct DNA up to 20kb from scratch. Additionally, Lei's work involves sequencing the building blocks and synthetic genes using advanced technologies.

Prior to working at Quintara Biosciences, Lei worked as a Research Associate at the University of Maryland from 2012 to 2013. During this role, Lei contributed to research projects in an academic setting.

Lei also has experience as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the J. Craig Venter Institute from 2005 to 2012. In this role, Lei developed DNA assembly methods for large DNA construction and contributed to the development of protocols for genome transplantation and selective destruction of host genomes using rare restriction enzymes.

Lei's educational background includes a PhD from the University of Sydney, which was pursued from 2000 to 2005.
