Software Engineer at Quip

Oliver Stacey has a strong background in software engineering and leadership roles. Oliver is currently working as a Software Engineer at Quip since July 2019. Prior to that, they had a significant tenure at Location Labs by Avast, starting in 2016, where they served as the Director of Engineering (Architect). In this role, they were responsible for leading the architectural design and development of a new product platform, utilizing API-first development, microservices, containers, and cloud hosting. Oliver improved engineering efficiency and quality of life by advocating for automated testing and continuous integration.

Before Location Labs by Avast, Oliver was the Director of Engineering at LocationLabs (formerly Wavemarket), starting in 2011. Oliver played a crucial role in the growth, scalability, and stability of a product that gained 1.2 million monthly paying customers. Oliver also spearheaded the adoption of automated deployment using Fabric and later Ansible.

Oliver's career began at Location Labs (formerly Wavemarket) in 2005, where they served as a Software Engineer and Tech Lead. Oliver built application and library code using various Java technologies and led product launches for Family Locator products. Furthermore, they acted as the principal architect for an API platform used across multiple user-facing products.

Prior to their role at Location Labs (formerly Wavemarket), Oliver worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Cranite Systems in 2004 and at MemeWorks from 2001 to 2004. At MemeWorks, they were part of a two-person engineering team that built a platform for distributing business training content using an XML/XSLT content management system and a Java application stack with a custom JSP implementation.

Oliver Stacey earned a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Mathematics from the University of Newcastle. Oliver attended the university from 1993 to 1997.
