David Mathewson joined Quona Capital in 2022 as Partner & Chief Operating Officer.
Prior to joining Quona, David was Senior Managing Director at Small Enterprise Assistance Funds (SEAF), where he was a member of the firm’s senior management team and served as the chair of the firm’s Global Investment Committee. From 2010 to 2015, David served as Senior Managing Director of Franklin Templeton Investments/Darby Private Equity, with chief operating officer responsibilities for the financial, fund administration, ESG and business development aspects of Darby’s global operations. From 2000 to 2009, David was Managing Director at Soros Fund Management and an affiliate where he served as a founding member of the management team of Southeast Europe Equity Fund 1 and II, two private equity funds
for Southeast Europe and Turkey with combined capital of $520 million.
Prior to Soros, David served as a Director with Delphos/Banc One Capital Markets where he was responsible for emerging market fund formation and private placements. From 1994 to 1997, David served as the deputy head of the investment funds department at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) in Washington DC. David began his career as a banker with Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. in New York.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University and a Master of Management degree from Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
