Brenda Frederiks

Brenda Frederiks is a highly experienced professional in the field of health law and human rights, currently serving as a Raadslid rechtspraak at the Raad voor Strafrechtstoepassing en Jeugdbescherming since May 2023 and as a visiting scholar at the Groningen Centre for Health Law at the University of Groningen since February 2023. Frederiks has a longstanding affiliation with Amsterdam UMC as a Universitair docent gezondheidsrecht since 2005, focusing on involuntary care in elder care, disability care, and youth care while also teaching medical and health sciences students. Additional roles include editorial member of the European Journal of Health Law, deputy member of the College voor de Rechten van de Mens, and legal advisor at Stichting landelijke faciliteit CVP. Frederiks holds a PhD and LLM in health law and health sciences from Maastricht University, obtained between 1991 and 1998.
