Steve's interest in two way communications started in the 1970's with a TRC-30A CB radio. After listening to emergency services on a Radio Shack Patrolman radio for many years, Steve upgraded to a Bearcat BC160 scanner which was the first of many scanners he would eventually own.
Seeing a need for a place for local scanner enthusiasts to share knowledge, Steve started up a message board on Onelist in 1998 which reached over 2,000 members and just under 1,000 messages per month.
Steve has been licensed as an amateur radio operator since 1987 and currently holds an Advanced license in Canada. He has served as a Delegated Examiner for Industry Canada, has served as the AMPRNet IP Address Coordinator for Ontario and is active in Canwarn. Steve currently has 3 voice repeaters on the air which includes 2 P25 repeaters and one APRS digipeater.
His involvement with RadioReference started back in 2001 as a Global Database Administrator and a Moderator for the Canadian forums. Steve is currently responsible for leading the direction of our forums and all moderation responsibilities.
