Kristen Shaw

Kristen Shaw's work experience begins with their role as a Director of User Experience at Raft, starting in November 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a UX Manager at Raft from September 2021 to November 2022.

Before joining Raft, Kristen worked as a UX Designer at Booz Allen Hamilton from October 2019 to September 2021.

Prior to their time at Booz Allen Hamilton, Kristen held the position of UX Design Specialist at Compassion International from January 2011 to October 2019. In this role, they led efforts to improve digital interactions between the ministry and donors, conducting user research and utilizing qualitative and quantitative data to propose innovative solutions. Kristen also collaborated with stakeholders to advocate for project prioritization and resource allocation.

Kristen also has experience in the military, serving as a 25B Information Technology Specialist in the United States Army Reserve from 2007 to 2012. Additionally, they worked as a Freelance Graphic Designer at Hire Heroes USA from December 2008 to December 2010.

Earlier in their career, Kristen held the role of Graphic Designer at UPMC from July 2008 to August 2010, where they were responsible for developing marketing materials and coordinating internal communication. Kristen also worked as a Graphic Designer at Landmarks Marketing from August 2007 to June 2008, collaborating with a production team and project managers to produce visitor guide publications.

Kristen's early work experience includes serving as a 2T2 Air Transportation specialist in the U.S. Air Force Reserve from 2005 to 2007 and as a 14J Air Defense C4I Tactical Operations Center Operator in the US Army from 2003 to 2004.

Kristen Shaw has a diverse educational background in the fields of information communications technology, web design and development, graphic design, and visual communications. Kristen'seducation journey started in 2005 when they attended Colorado Technical University, where they obtained an AS degree in Visual Communications. From 2007 to 2009, they pursued a BS degree in Graphic Design at The Art Institutes. In 2014, Kristen enrolled at the University of Denver and completed their Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Information Communications Technology, with a specialization in Web Design and Development in 2015.

Furthermore, Kristen Shaw holds several certifications related to user experience (UX) and agile methodologies. In chronological order, they earned the UX Certificate from Nielsen Norman Group in September 2014. Later, in December 2019, they obtained certifications in User Research: Methods and Best Practices and UX Management: Strategies and Tactics from The Interaction Design Foundation. In January 2020, they completed a certification in Information Visualization from The Interaction Design Foundation. During the same month, they earned the Professional Scrum with UX I certification from Scrum.org. Additionally, they obtained the Optimizely Platform Certification in June 2015. Finally, Kristen recently achieved the Certified SAFe® 5 Program Consultant certification from Scaled Agile, Inc. in April 2020.
