Agatha Martindale is the Vice President of Global Finance at Rakuten Medical. Agatha has over fifteen years of experience in finance and accounting in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries.
Martindale began their career as a Senior Manager of Accounting and Financial Reporting at Syrrx, Inc., which was acquired by Takeda Pharmaceutical in 2003. Agatha was responsible for leading the annual budget for all departments, setting up project reporting, and tracking expenses and funding for each pharmaceutical collaboration.
In 2008, Martindale became the Director of Finance & Accounting at Zogenix, Inc. During their time at Zogenix, they led the preparation of the quarterly financials in preparation for the company's S-1 IPO filing. Agatha also spearheaded all finance activities for the Commercial Launch and the Phase III ZX002 program.
After leaving Zogenix, Martindale worked as a Financial Controller at TorreyPines Therapeutics, Inc. (TPTX), which was acquired by Raptor Pharmaceuticals in 2008. During their time at TPTX, they refinanced the company's $20M debt financing facility, which decreased interest expense by more than $1M.
In 2009, Martindale became a Senior Finance Consultant, working with various pharmaceutical and medical device companies. In 2015, they joined Rakuten Medical as the Vice President of Global Finance.
Agatha Martindale has a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of San Diego in Accounting and Computer Science. Agatha also has a certification from Coursera in AI For Everyone, taught by Andrew Ng, Stanford. Additionally, they have a certification from Athena in Athena On Boards, and they are a Certified Public Accountant from the California Board of Accountancy.
They are on a team with Eduardo Rodenas - CMO, Andreas Rose - President & MD, Rakuten Aspyrian Europe, and Carlos Garcia - CTO. Agatha Martindale reports to Hiroshi Mikitani, Vice Chairman & Co-CEO.
