Katie Beck has a diverse range of work experience in the healthcare and education sectors. Katie started their professional journey as a Registered Nurse at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in 2011, where they worked in various departments and was granted a sabbatical in June 2014. During their sabbatical, they pursued development opportunities overseas, including volunteer work as a Medic with Raleigh International.
After their sabbatical, Katie continued their career as a Registered Nurse at Royal Darwin Hospital in 2014 and then joined Mediserve Nursing Agency as a Registered Nurse from 2014 to 2015. In 2015, they worked as a Bespoke Expedition Medic with Raleigh International.

In 2016, they also began working as an Emergency Department Registered Nurse at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, a position they currently hold.
Katie's career in academia started in 2019 when they became an Honourary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Exeter and a Lecturer in Nursing Science at the University of East Anglia in 2020. Katie currently holds the position of Lecturer in Extreme Medicine at the University of Exeter, teaching and conducting research in this field.
