Todd Ballantyne

Todd Ballantyne has extensive work experience in the software engineering field. Todd is currently employed as the Senior Director of Software Engineering at Rapid Micro Biosystems, a position they have held since March 2022. Prior to this, they worked as the Director of Software Development at the same company from January 2021 to March 2022.

Before joining Rapid Micro Biosystems, Todd worked at Medtronic as the Director of Software Engineering from May 2016 to January 2021.

Todd also has a significant tenure at DEKA Research & Development, where they held multiple roles. Todd was the Systems Lead for the Vivia Home Hemodialysis Device from January 2012 to May 2016. Additionally, they served as the Lead Software Engineer for the same device from September 2007 to April 2014, overseeing the development of software prototypes, software architecture, and software requirements. Todd also led a team of up to 29 developers for two clinical studies and the CE Mark of the device. Prior to this, Todd worked as a Principal Software Engineer at DEKA Research & Development, where they developed an XML recipe compiler for the Coke Freestyle Soda Fountain.

Earlier in their career, Todd worked as an Embedded Software Engineer at DEKA Research & Development, working on the development and testing of C++ software for the iBOT transporter. Todd also worked as an Embedded Software Engineer at Rvsi Acuity Imaging, where they developed vxWorks BSP for MIPS processor-based image processing board. Todd began their career as a Software Engineer at Sanders - A Lockheed Martin Company, working on vxWorks BSP development for the C-17 flight computer and collaborating with Electrical Engineers on debugging custom ASICs.

Todd Ballantyne earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Physics from Juniata College, where they studied from 1983 to 1987. Continuing their education, they pursued a Master's degree in Computer Science from the Florida Institute of Technology and completed the program from 1989 to 1993. Additionally, Todd obtained a certification in "Developing Adaptable Employees" from LinkedIn in April 2021.
