Nico Janik is an experienced educator and coordinator within the Ravenswood City School District, serving as the Science/Makerspaces/Engineering Coordinator for TK - 8 since 2014. Responsibilities have included developing and implementing professional development for faculty, supporting the roll-out of engineering Makerspaces across seven school sites, and addressing achievement gaps for marginalized student populations through STEM initiatives. Prior experience includes roles as a Science Educator at the City of Palo Alto’s Junior Museum and Zoo, and as an instructional assistant in the Palo Alto Unified School District. Nico's background in product design and engineering is complemented by a Master’s degree in Engineering from Stanford University and multiple undergraduate degrees, including a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Barbara, along with a Teaching Credential from California State University, Monterey Bay.
