Donald Armstrong

Donald Armstrong, SPHR has over 20 years of work experience in human resources. Donald is currently serving as the Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) since December 2020. In this role, they lead the strategic functions of the HR department and works closely with senior leadership on recruitment, data analysis, and process improvements.

Prior to their current position, Donald held the role of Director of Human Resources at RDU from December 2018 to December 2020. During this time, they oversaw recruitment, onboarding, retention, benefits administration, employee relations, and HR information systems. Donald also worked with senior leadership on strategic planning initiatives.

Before joining RDU, Donald worked as the Human Resources Manager at The Arc of North Carolina from 2006 to 2018. Donald managed HR department policies, processes, programs, and employee relations for 500 personnel across 23 locations. Donald also developed and supervised HR staff and managed leave-of-absence programs and benefits enrollment plans.

From 1998 to 2006, Donald worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Benefits Analyst. Donald supervised a team and ensured adherence to plan designs. Donald was also responsible for training staff on policies and procedures.

Donald Armstrong, SPHR has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. In addition to their degrees, they have obtained certifications including the SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) from SHRM and the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the HR Certification Institute.
