Brian Nahed MD, MSc. FAANS FACS

Dr. Brian Nahed has extensive work experience in the field of neurosurgery. Brian has been working at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School since 2005 as a Neurosurgeon and Associate Professor, specializing in brain tumors and spinal disorders. In addition to their clinical work, they have also served as the Program Director of the Neurosurgery Residency program since June 2021 and as the Associate Program Director from June 2016 to May 2021. Dr. Nahed has also held various leadership roles within the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), including Co-Chair and Co-Director of the CNS Leadership Institute, and has been actively involved in committees and advisory roles. Brian has also served as the NFL Unaffiliated Neurotrauma Consultant (UNC) Lead for the National Football League and is a board member of The AANS/CNS Joint Section on Tumors. Additionally, Dr. Nahed is a co-founder and Chief Medical Advisor of REACT Neuro, a healthcare company.

Brian Nahed MD, MSc, FAANS, FACS has a comprehensive education background in the field of neurosurgery and healthcare leadership. Brian completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Neuroscience at UCLA from 1995 to 2000. Following this, they attended Yale University School of Medicine and obtained their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in 2005.

Dr. Nahed then pursued their neurosurgery residency at Harvard Medical School - Massachusetts General Hospital from 2005 to 2011, focusing on brain tumors and spinal disorders. As part of their residency, they also completed a Program in Clinical Effectiveness at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in 2012.

In 2014, Dr. Nahed earned their Masters of Science (MSc) degree in Epidemiology from Harvard University. Brian continued their education and obtained additional certifications to enhance their surgical leadership skills. In 2017 and 2018, they completed the CNS Leadership in Healthcare and CNS Vanguard Leadership in Healthcare programs, respectively, offered by the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS).

Continuing their commitment to professional development, Dr. Nahed pursued ACGME Faculty Development in Education in 2022. This specialized program focused on enhancing their skills in education.
