Program Manager, College Apps Academy at Reality Changers

Rea Concepcion has a diverse work experience spanning multiple organizations and roles. In 2006, they worked as an English Language Arts Teacher at the American Center For Learning. From 2012 to 2013, Rea served as a Foster Youth Mentor, providing mentoring, test prep, and supplemental education services to students of various grade levels.

In 2013, Rea joined South Bay Community Services where they played a crucial role in launching and overseeing the Chula Vista Promise Neighborhood initiative. As a Post-Secondary Academic Advocate, they focused on college access and retention for first-generation students and their families. During their time in this role, Rea provided academic and socioemotional support, developed programming and curriculum for 12th grade and college participants, and collaborated with various stakeholders to improve educational opportunities in under-resourced areas.

In their current position as the Program Manager of the College Apps Academy, Rea oversees the implementation of relevant programming and services, partnering with community organizations, high schools, and college institutions to equip students from historically marginalized backgrounds with academic support, financial assistance, and leadership training.

Rea also holds various certifications, including "College-Going Identity and Student Success" from Harvard University Graduate School of Education, "CPR & First Aid" from the American Heart Association, "Domestic Violence Counselor" from the State of California, and "Youth and Mental Health First Aid" from Mental Health America.
