Mari Malcolm has extensive work experience in content creation and management. Mari started their career at Amazon.com in 1999 as a Proofreader and later worked as a Copyeditor, where they edited content from all product lines and developed the Amazon Brand & Style Guide. Mari then served as the Managing Editor of Content Services, leading a team of writers and editors and training them on Amazon style. In their role as Managing Editor of Music, they hired and developed a team of editors and merchandisers and executed successful onsite features and email marketing campaigns. As the Senior Editor of Books, Mari created and optimized online and email content for Amazon.ca Books and launched the Best Books program. Mari then became the Managing Editor of Books, overseeing a team responsible for creating on-site content features and marketing emails. At RealSelf, Mari held various positions such as Sr. UX Copywriter, Director of Community & Content, Director of Consumer Programs, and finally Director of Consumer Content. In these roles, they led teams, developed programs, and created consumer-facing content, resulting in increased organic search entrances, improved consumer satisfaction, and higher engagement.
Mari Malcolm earned a Bachelor's Degree in English -- Creative Writing from Western Washington University, which they attended from 1994 to 1999. In addition, they obtained two certifications related to Generative AI from Vanderbilt University, with the Generative AI Primer certification obtained in 2023 and the Generative AI for Leaders certification expected in 2024.
