Senior Software Engineer at Realtime Robotics

Lucas Coelho Figueiredo's work experience includes a role as a Senior Software Engineer at Realtime Robotics, Inc. starting in 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Hexagon Mining from 2017 to 2022, where they held the role of Specialist Software Engineer III - Autonomous Vehicles. In this position, their responsibilities included programming in C++ and Python on the ROS framework, designing and implementing custom vehicle-to-vehicle protocols, and integrating other products from Hexagon into their autonomous stack.

From 2015 to 2017, Lucas was a Co-Founder and CTO at Newatt, where they were responsible for technical decisions and designed the first version of the hardware. Lucas also worked at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais as a Teaching Assistant in 2015.

Lucas's work experience also includes being an IT Intern at DTI Sistemas from 2014 to 2015 and a Summer Research Intern at Boston University in 2014. In the latter role, they implemented experiments for a multi-robot coverage control algorithm and submitted the results for a research paper.

Lucas began their career as a Research Assistant at MACRO - Mechatronics, Control, and Robotics Research Group at the Federal University of Minas Gerais in 2010. During this time, Lucas developed hardware and software for robots, including stepper motor drivers for a robotic manipulator and a team of Turtlebots robots for indoor experiments. Lucas also worked with multi-robot coverage control algorithms using ROS and UAV coordination.

Lucas Coelho Figueiredo pursued their education in a sequential manner. Lucas first attended Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica de Minas Gerais from 2007 to 2009, where they obtained a Technician degree in Electronics. Following that, Lucas enrolled at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais from 2010 to 2015, earning a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Control and Automation. As an exchange student, they studied at The University of Texas at Austin from 2013 to 2014, focusing on Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Later, Lucas pursued a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais between 2015 and 2018. Currently, they are expected to attend USP - Universidade de São Paulo during 2022 and 2023 to pursue a Master of Business Administration degree, specializing in Project Management.
