Megumi Kivuva is a current Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Washington Information School, focused on enhancing participation in computing education for Black students and refugees by identifying barriers and co-designing inclusive interventions. In addition to this role, Megumi serves as a volunteer for the Refugee Women’s Alliance and has previously contributed as a STEM Fellow at Bard College, where programming was brought to diverse students through hands-on teaching and outreach. Megumi also has experience as Camp Director at iD Tech Camps, managing staff and planning tech activities, as well as an intern at the Fund for Advancement of Minorities through Education, where pre-algebra and STEM subjects were instructed to middle school students. Megumi's educational background includes a PhD in Information Science from the University of Washington and a degree in Computer Science and Spanish Language and Literature from Bard College.
