Craig Wheeler, CPA

Craig Wheeler, CPA has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Craig started their career as an Accounts Payable Auditor at EXPRESS in 1999. From there, they worked as an Accountant at Tomita USA, Inc. until 2005. In 2005, Craig joined SS&G Financial Services, Inc. as an Associate in the Entrepreneurial Services Group, where they compiled financial statements and prepared tax returns for various clients.

In 2007, Craig joined NiSource as a Lead Income Tax Analyst, responsible for income tax functions for regulated gas transmission and electric segments, as well as non-regulated entities. Craig managed a rotation of up to 10 corporations and partnerships.

After eight years at NiSource, Craig moved to Columbia Pipeline Group (now part of TransCanada) in 2015 as the Manager of Income Tax. In this role, they oversaw income tax provision, forecasting, reporting, compliance, and SEC/FERC reporting for FERC regulated interstate pipeline entities.

Craig then joined American Electric Power in 2017 as a Tax Analyst Principal before transitioning to Commercial Vehicle Group, Inc. in 2018 as an International Tax Manager.

Most recently, in 2019, Craig returned to NiSource as a Senior Analyst. During their second tenure with the company, they held roles in both Financial Reporting and Consolidated Accounting as well as Corporate Accounting. In 2022, Craig joined Regulated Capital Consultants as a Consultant.

Throughout their career, Craig has developed expertise in various areas including income tax accounting, tax forecasting, SEC/FERC reporting, tax compliance, and financial statement preparation. Craig is proficient in ASC 740, FIN 48, ASC 980, tax consolidation, and SEC tax footnote reporting.

Craig Wheeler, CPA obtained their Bachelor's degree in Accounting from The Ohio State University from 1996 to 1999. Prior to that, they attended Bowling Green State University from 1995 to 1996, where they pursued studies in Business. Additionally, Craig has obtained their certification as a Certified Public Accountant from the Accountancy Board Of Ohio. Craig has also achieved the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification, although the details of the institution and dates are not available.
