As the Director of Content Development for the Teacher Professional Education Team, Amy collaborates with the design team, as well as with internal and external partners, to develop and facilitate practical workshops for teachers that are equity-centered and evidence-based.
Amy has significant experience in elementary and higher education. She began her career as an elementary teacher in Nashville, Tennessee. From this position, she was selected to coach other teachers in the building as a Multi-Classroom Leader. In this role, Amy realized her passion for helping teachers deliver excellent instruction and grow in their craft.
Prior to joining Professional Education, Amy served as a Faculty Site Coordinator at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She worked with school partners to supervise and coach undergraduate and graduate certificate candidates in their student teaching and internship semesters.
Amy has worked at Relay since 2017 in various capacities including as an Assistant Professor of Practice, teaching graduate-level coursework in elementary content and general pedagogy to K-12 teachers. Amy taught online as both an Adjunct Instructor and as a Lead Facilitator for Teacher Professional Education, delivering synchronous professional development workshops to hundreds of teachers across the country.
Amy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina, a Master’s Degree in Education in Learning, Diversity, and Urban Studies from Vanderbilt University, and an English Language Learning Endorsement from Lipscomb University. Amy is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with research interests in educational leadership, culturally responsive teaching, and teacher professional development.
