Dean Thorson has over 35 years of experience in the technology industry. Dean began their career in 1986 as a Lead Engineer at Northrop Grumman. In 1989, they joined Motorola, Cellular Infrastructure Division as a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff. Dean then moved to Motorola Networks in 1989 in the same role. In 2004, they designed, implemented and deployed changes to power control and signaling to decrease CDMA network dropped call statistics. In 2015, they joined Republic Wireless as a Senior Director and Director, System Architecture. In 2021, they became the Senior Director at Relay, Inc., where they created the Relay communication product currently shipping in the US. Additionally, they have been a member of the Board of Directors of Prairie Crossing Charter School since 2009, where they were elected President of the Board of Directors in 2013. Dean is currently a School Board Member at Grayslake Community High School District 127.
Dean Thorson received their Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Physics from Iowa State University, and their Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
