Steve Berna

Steve has over 30 year’s experience in the healthcare industry and unique pharmacy actuary experience that positions him as one of leading experts in the country. He created and led the first managed care actuarial team for Trustmark Insurance Company with responsibility for creating medical network pricing models. Quickly promoted to Pharmacy Director, he developed a cohesive pharmacy strategy that created significant savings through better vendor management, more effective contracts for the PBM and high-priced specialty products, and cost control programs resulting in 0% pharmacy trend. Steve served as the client lead for many large groups such as CoreSource TPA, United American Insurance Company, Federated Insurance Company and Trustmark Insurance Company, as well as Taft-Hartley union groups such as AEPC (AFL-CIO Employer Purchasing Coalition), IUOE International in Washington, DC (International Union of Operating Engineers), 1199 SEIU (Service Employees International Union) and many others. Steve is asked to speak nationally at various pharmacy symposiums, society of actuaries meetings, PBM client advisory boards, and national union meetings.
