James Meadows has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. James started their career as a Lead Information Technology Specialist at the Federal Bureau of Prisons, where they managed and troubleshooted large-scale networks and information security systems. In 2009, they ventured into entrepreneurship and started their own computer consulting and repair company called FGW Computing. As the owner and senior consultant, they performed hardware/software repairs and upgrades for Windows-based computer systems and also gained expertise in web page design.
In 2013, James joined International Crediting Associates as a contractor, working on a Cisco Item Development project for Cisco Corporation. Later that year, they transitioned to bioMérieux, initially serving as a Senior Connectivity Specialist. James provided technical support for ViLink device relationship management systems, managed multiple installation projects, and led a team for obtaining DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process certification.
Within bioMérieux, James moved to the role of a Project Manager/IT Security Specialist. James received recognition for their contribution to improving privacy, security, and regulatory compliance for the company's In-Vitro Diagnostic equipment. James also worked closely with Federal Government, Military, and high-security concern accounts to ensure successful implementation of complex projects.
In 2018, James took on a new challenge as an Exam Development Volunteer at ISC2 Tampa Florida. James was involved in various workgroups responsible for remote exam item writing, standard setting, and development of certifications like CISSP and HCISPP.
James's most recent position is with Renalytix, where they serve as a Senior Manager Information Security and Compliance. James plays a crucial role in managing business development activities related to security, compliance, and data protection. This includes overseeing audits, compliance reviews, regulatory remediation activities, and acting as a project manager/lead for IT security projects with the Federal Government.
James Meadows attended Piedmont Community College from 2005 to 2009, where they obtained an Advanced Certificate in Networking Technologies.
In addition to their formal education, James obtained several certifications. In 2012, they became a CIW Web Security Professional through the CIW Web Foundations Associate institution. Two years later, in 2014, they obtained the CompTIA Security+ certification from CompTIA, as well as the Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) certification from the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2). James also attained the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from ISC2 in 2016.
James expanded their certifications further by receiving the CompTIA PenTest+ in 2020, HITRUST Certified CSF Practitioner (CCSFP) in 2022, Scrum Master Certified (SMC) in 2019, and the CompTIA Cloud+ in 2018. In 2016, they obtained the HealthCare Information Security and Privacy Practitioner (HCISPP) certification from ISC2. James also acquired multiple certifications from Cisco, including CCDA, CCNA Routing & Switching, and CCNA Security in 2014, as well as the CWNA certification from the CWNP Program in 2012. James became a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) through ISACA in 2020 and a Certified HIPAA Professional from HIPAA Academy in 2019.
