Candice Lawton has worked in a variety of roles in the sustainability, environmental and communications sectors since 2011. Candice began their career as a Resident Assistant at the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 2011. In 2013, they worked as a Field Worker at the Stewart Plant Genetics Lab and as an Efficiency and Waste Reduction Coordinator at the University of Tennessee Recycling and Waste Management. In 2014, they worked as a Communications Specialist for the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy. In 2015, they were an Outreach & Social Media Coordinator for the GameDay Recycling Challenge. In 2016, they worked as a Strategic Partnerships & Outreach Specialist for RecycleMania, an Associate Director of North American Brand Partnerships and a Business Development Manager for TerraCycle. In 2021, they were a Director of Community Partnerships, an Agency Services Senior Manager and an Agency Services Manager for Philabundance. Most recently, they have been a Senior Manager of Business Partnerships for rePurpose Global since 2022.

Candice Lawton's education history includes a Bachelor of Arts in Sustainability from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, which they received between 2010 and 2015. During their time at the University of Tennessee, they also obtained a Forklift Operation Certification and a Universal Waste Management Certification. In 2015, they completed a French B2 Course as part of an International Exchange Program at Nantes Université. Additionally, they hold a ServSafe Manager certification from the National Restaurant Association which they obtained in April 2022, and is a Top Contributor for Nepris Inc.
